Context: On January 23, Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe spoke to the media about a request made by coconut exporters to import coconut-based products in the face of a shortage of coconuts. During the briefing, he added that the practice of Sri Lankans to eat pol sambol (a popular Sri Lankan dish made of grated coconut) and add coconut milk to curries leads to the wastage of coconut-based products that otherwise can be exported, a statement that was heavily ridiculed on social media https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2378137925894026.

Context: On January 21, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake participated in Sirasa TV’s political talk show Satana (trans: battle),which has been criticised for displaying favouritism towards Dissanayake and being overly lenient with him. The meme calls the satana a hurathal satana (trans.  cute battle).
