Display of the items unearthed in the Chemmani mass grave
On August 5, over 200 individuals, including relatives of missing persons, took a look at items of evidence unearthed from the Chemmani mass grave in Jaffna. Some of these items included children’s toys, an infant’s feeding bottle, shoes, a school bag and bangles. As of the same day, over 140 skeletal remains have been identified at the site. Only privately-owned Tamil TV channels Dan News, IBC Tamil and Shakthi TV afforded coverage to the judicial proceedings in their primetime news coverage.
