20 years since the Sencholai Bombing
On August 14, 2006, more than 50 schoolgirls and teachers were reported killed in an aerial attack on the Sencholai children’s home. Commemorative events were held in the Northern Province on August 14 to mark the 20th anniversary of the incident and remember those who were killed. Only privately-owned Tamil TV channels Dan News and IBC Tamil afforded coverage to the events in their primetime news telecasts.
