The TV coverage of the issue

The data on television coverage is based on the monitoring of the primetime news telecasts of selected Sinhala TV channels uploaded to YouTube. On November 28 and 29, most channels did not follow the usual pattern of primetime news telecasts, and instead, covered the disaster situation extensively through continuous news updates. Hence, these two days have been excluded from the monitoring period.

The Swarnavahini primetime news telecast for December 2 was unavailable on YouTube at the time of publishing MPA.

The Swarnavahini and Siyatha primetime news telecasts for December 5 uploaded to YouTube did not include headlines. Apart from these, the news telecasts of all seven channels monitored featured this issue in their headlines during the monitoring period.
