Context: A tense situation arose in Trincomalee over the reported attempt to construct a Buddhist temple by placing a Buddha statue. On the evening of 16 November, ITAK MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam noted that Minister Ananada Wijeypala assisted in halting the placement of the statue. However, on 17 November, the statue was reconstructed in the same location.
