16 years since the end of the war
May 18, 2025 marked 16 years since the end of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka. Reporting on the event, Sinhala newspapers predominantly focused on “celebrating” the war victory. By contrast, Tamil newspapers focused on the “commemoration” of the civilians of the North and East who died during the war.
