PTA under the NPP: A tool of justice, or a tool of suppression?

On June 25, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced in parliament plans to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) over the next few months. Commenting on the announcement, Sunday Divaina framed the PTA as a “tool of justice”, while Virakesari framed it as a “tool of suppression”.
